Trial by Jury
Trial by Jury, an early work by Gilbert and Sullivan, is set in a late eighteenth century courtroom where Edwin is being tried by his fiancée Angelina for standing her up at the altar.
This fun-filled musical features: a chorus, a jury that is ready from the outset to lynch the dashing, debonair Edwin, the sweet but sly Angelina, her lawyer, six gushing bridesmaids, a fumbling usher whose attempts to maintain silence in the court are usually futile and and eccentric “good judge” who finally finds a solution to the matrimonial dilemma.
