How Lucretia Discovered Christmas
Lucretia is a little devil, literally, but she has “a pleasant streak right through her.”Because she’s so good, she’s an “absolute disgrace” to her parents, Mort and Myrna Beelzebub, a pain in the pitchfork to her older brother Gorgon and a challenge to her teacher Miss Gargoyle. But Lucretia really gets into trouble when she starts asking questions about Christmas. The more her family refuses to discuss it, the more determined she is to find out. So she sneaks past the Angel Gabriel at the Gates on Christmas Eve and lands in asnow bank in the poorest part of town. There she is discovered by an elderly recluse, Wilfrid, who hates Christmas. But prodded by Lucretia, he finally breaks down and starts to talk about happier Christmases in his past.
How Lucretia reacts to this is still a secret but in the end the lonely old man and the little devil give each other a wonderful Christmas.
