Fruits Unheard of
Fruits Unheard Of explores the life and work of photographer Diane Arbus, best known for her portraits of society’s “outsiders”: freaks, transvestites, eccentrics, and nudists. Arbus became renowned for her confrontational style and unconventional subject matter. Her work was not without controversy and criticism: Norman Mailer once famously opined that “Giving a camera to Diane Arbus is like giving a hand grenade to a baby.” Arbus suffered from depression and committed suicide in 1971 at the age of 48.
