The nominees and winners for most categories are decided through a combination of public voting and choices by four small groups that evaluate every registered production. For 2009 the outstanding original script category has been judged solely by a new panel, and the touring category is being retired. A final award, named for Chris Doty, is presented to an individual or group in recognition of their contribution to the London theatre community.
