Groovy!

You can’t go wrong with this nostalgic musical by the community theatre favorites, Kelly and Francoeur! Their musical-comedy, Groovy!, celebrates the hippies and flower children of the ’60s. Like the legendary Woodstock Festival, we go to the Music, Beads and Flowers Festival, a free weekend of live rock music featuring the world renowned lemon Bugs as headliners. Bus loads of fans in their psychedelically painted buses start to arrive at the Crumb’s Apple Farm site. An angry neighbour, an enemy of rock music and those who love it, is out to stop the Festival in its tracks, and trumps up all kinds of charges to get the police to shut it down. Meanwhile a crafty promoter is out to lure the Lemon Bugs away with a big recording deal. Expect all kinds of trouble (and a host of songs that channel the great hits of the ’60s), before everything turns out funky and groovy after all.
