Join us as we journey, in everything but the traditional Shakespearean language, back to the late 1960s, New York City. In our production, we find Donna Pedro, a NOW women’s rights activist, and her publicity/legal team, as well as her delinquent, jealous brother and his cronies, visiting one of her biggest backers, law firm owner Leonato, at his high rise penthouse apartment. Claudio, a young legal intern working for Donna, falls head over heels for Leonato’s daughter, Hero. As these two have their romance begin to bud and blossom, old flames Beatrice and Benedick rekindle their age old spat they have with each other.
Don John, Donna’s jealous brother, sees an opportunity to smite all the happy people surrounding him and plots to secure the downfall of those close to his sister. What starts out as a jovial visit to Leonato’s soon becomes a spiral of chaos, hurt, confusion and lies. Will everything return to order? Will Claudio and Hero find love? Will Beatrice and Benedick make a truce and find happiness? Or will it all have been Much Ado About Nothing?
