The winners of the awards were decided by votes from the public, the Brickenden core, youth, and original script panels, and the organization’s executive committee.

In a more serious moment, three female members of London’s theatre community, Whitney Bolam, Jennifer Hale, and Kaitlyn Rietdyk, voiced their solidarity with the #MeToo and #TimesUp movements. They noted that sexual harassment is not solely a problem in larger venues (specifically calling out the four women who filed harassment claims against Soulpepper’s artistic director) but in the London community as well; while not naming any particular incidents, their pointed examples of harassment and violations of consent made the issues clear and relevant to all.

Congratulations to all of the winners and nominees, as well as to everyone who worked in, attended, and supported theatre in London in 2017. Enjoy this year’s theatre productions!
