In an attempt to save the family business, The Phoenix Lottery offers its winner instant fame and fortune: the chance to publicly torch a prized van Gogh. It is an exploration of art, commerce, organized religion, and untidy family relationships. In this grand comedy, there’s a keen eye for the masks with which society maintains the commodification of art and celebrity and the value placed on them.
Junior Beamish: (male-identifying 25-40) He is the neurotic, well-intentioned, therapy-addled son of the company founder, and he plans to make up for daddy’s years of buccaneering capitalism by creating and funding the country’s biggest charity.
Cardinal Wichita: (male-identifying 40-70) A slippery Vatican envoy.
Lydia Spark: (female-identifying 20-35) A small-town girl, as neurotic as Junior. She’s out to make a name for herself at any cost.
The Artist: (male-identifying 25-40). Email for more information pertaining to this character.
