Inherit The Wind by Jerome Lawrence and Robert E. Lee
Considered by many as one of the greatest plays of the twentieth century, Inherit The Wind is a fictional retelling of the 1925 “Scopes Monkey Trial,” in which a young Tennessee school teacher was charged with teaching Darwin’s Theory of Evolution. The play is not just a debate about creationism and evolution but also mirrors the continuous conflict between different belief systems and our right to think for ourselves, a conflict as topical today as it was 80 years ago.
