** The age requirement has only been put forth for the character of Vi, as the play offers some flexibility in the ages of the other characters.

Vi (age 40-50): mother for whose funeral the three sisters are gathering. Vi was glamourous in her younger years and often enamored of the men of the village. Appears as a ghost of her younger self.

Mary: middle child, a doctor. Having an affair with Mike. She is the only character who interacts with the ghost of Vi.

Teresa: oldest, runs a health food store with her husband Frank. She is both protective and resentful, as she has struggled to keep the family unit together.

Catherine: the youngest, most lively of the three sisters. She has always tried to get her sisters’ attention and often felt “left out” during childhood.

Mike: a doctor, married. Mike is having an affair with Mary. Is his wife as sick as he’s portrayed?

Frank: Teresa’s husband. Frank is unhappy and looking for something more satisfying to do with his life.
