Places We Know

Ever wonder what it would be like to live in a magical land of talking rabbits? Or perhaps an abstract poetic neurological landscape? Or even, dare I say, Lobo, Ontario? You can travel to all of these places in Bumbletea Theatre’s Places We Know!

                  Theft: A Miracle Play

In a commoditized world where colour, language, and freedom are owned by a ubiquitous dictator, a pair of unlikely heroes set out to save the imaginary from being erased altogether. Only the rumour of a strange prophecy threatens to destroy Lord Mick’s vast commercial empire. Meanwhile, Mary and Joseph must protect their unborn child from the soldiers determined to make sure that the prophecy is not fulfilled. Throw in a dash of George Lucas, Jesus, Walt Disney, and an anthropomorphic zebra and you’ve got Theft: A Miracle Play!

Tickets: $10; Saturday matinee is pwyc.

                        Smell Co.

From Bumbletea Theatre, the troupe that brought you last year’s Brickenden-nominated production of Twicken’s Book, comes a farcical fantasy of special magnificence, pungent repugnance, and, well, foliage. Barry Smellée (Taylor Axford) is the creator of Smell Co., the leading company in irrational decision-making. Smellée’s disgruntled and disfigured employees include ex-NASA engineer Ruth Bastardi-Slaughter (Erin J. Walker), the aptly named Flunky Lizardbuns (Kevin Grater) and Sarah Jane (Tyler Graham), whose bark is worse than his (yes, his) bite. As Mr. Smelée’s lack of leadership sends Smell Co. down the road to disaster, he begins to wonder if there is any hope of saving his beloved company and its emotionally exploited workers.

Tickets: $12: call 519-642-2767 to book in advance.
