ONE NIGHT ONLY!
Written and performed by Jayson McDonald
Directed by Jeff Culbert
Presented once again for Londoners, as a fundraiser for The Big Comedy Go-To (coming April 16-19 to Londontown)!
Gary Bazman is a fabulous, wonderful actor who only needs a thousand dollars to make his dream of being discovered at a high-profile arts conference a reality. Also, his cat needs a thousand dollar operation or he’ll die, but that’s just way too much money to spend on a cat.
Boat Load has been performed in London, Seattle, Bellingham WA, Saskatoon, Victoria, Ottawa, Winnipeg and New York. It’s received numerous awards, including Outstanding Solo Performance (Ottawa Fringe 2008), Best Original Work and Producer’s Pick (London Fringe 2008), Best Male Performer and Innovation Award (Victoria Fringe, 2008). It made CBC Manitoba’s Top Ten List at The Winnipeg Fringe in 2008.
“I will tell you this: more than three dozen shows into this festival, nothing has made me laugh as much as Jayson McDonald’s Boat Load. Proving he’s no one-hit wonder, McDonald follows up last year’s [Giant Invisible Robot] with a show that is frenetic, twisted, note-perfectly performed and above all, outrageously funny. McDonald and Culbert don’t just turn theatrical convention on its head — they wrestle it to the ground, beat it into submission, and then stand it up remade in their own bizarrely entertaining vision. It’s theatre that’s remarkably fresh, thoroughly engaging, and too good to be true….” 5 Stars — CBC Manitoba (Joff Schmidt)
