The Fugitive Slave Chapel Preservation Project

My Name is Margaret Harman

My Name is Margaret Harman is the multi-generational story of the Harman family, whose escape from slavery takes them to London, Ontario and the Fugitive Slave Chapel. When Baby Margaret is sold at auction at only three years of age, her parents vow to reunite with her somewhere, somehow. For this to happen, the toddler must be taught to always remember her true name. This play records the struggles of Margaret and her family as they move from slavery to freedom in the Forest City.
