Join us for Tinkerspace Theatre’s Play Jam! 4 writers will have 24 hours to write original plays on a mystery topic. For 24 hours we’ll live stream as they work! Our team of readers will perform the plays live at 3pm on June 27.

Goodnight Spaceman

An aging rock musician has cancer. Her adult children grapple with the family’s conflicting beliefs about the afterlife and remember a time when imagination connected them all. Tinkerspace Theatre’s original production of Goodnight Spaceman is an audio drama, based on Erin J. Walker’s 2017 Brickenden Award winning play My Name is Spaceman.

Tinkerspace Live!

Weight

This one act play contains 3 scenes between 3 different pairs of women (played by two actors). A video chat between two women on opposite ends of the weight spectrum, a heated argument over parenting styles in a dance studio, and a bride-to-be’s fantastical interaction with a mermaid. Each scene centers around different complications regarding women’s body issues and their place within society. This play has been workshopped through the Tinkerspace Playlabs program, and will be a feminist examination of the way weight and body image affect women and their interactions with the world.

Maggie’s Travelling Mystery Show

Rita longs to join the travelling players who cross the burning wastelands each year to perform for her village. Maggie, the aging star of the show, desperately wants to quit, but can’t until she finds a replacement. When Rita accepts Maggie’s invitation to audition, she faces a series of tests that bring her closer and closer to the danger at the heart of the mystery show.

Shubunkin

Dillon is the most reliable employee at exotic pet store Pete’s Pets. When a repeat customer becomes more than just an acquaintance, Dillon must decide where his priorities lie, and how far he is willing to go to hold his life together.
